Stir Fried Brussels Sprouts with Ham

Brussels sprouts is very interesting to me because it is not something we have in Taiwan. However, you can pretty much give my mom any ingredient and she can make it in to something delicious, so when we bought some brussels sprouts when I was growing up in Atlanta, she whipped up this Stir Fried Brussels Sprouts with Ham and ever since we have it pretty often at my house!

By the way, there are some good reasons to eat Brussels Sprouts. They are high in Vitamin C, Fiber, Folate, and Antioxidants, making them quite a healthy veggie!

Ingredients

  • 3 slices of ham, chopped – I use deli ham but you can also chop up non deli ham – the main point of the ham is really to flavor the sprouts.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, as desired

Instructions

Add olive oil and saute ham in a skillet over medium high heat.

Add Brussels Sprouts and cook, stirring occasionally.

Cover and cook until the Brussels Sprouts are tender.  This usually takes about 10 minutes. Add desired amount of salt and pepper and remove from heat!
