Guilt-Free Desserts… with Avocados!

When you hear the word “Avocado”, you might think dishes such as guacamole or salads… but have you tried them as desserts?  After research on paleo desserts, I’ve come across a few interesting recipes using avocados as the main ingredient.   Wait a minute… aren’t avocados full of FAT?!  Yes, but they are actually full of the good fat, monounsaturated fat, which actually lowers cholesterol, hence the guilt-free-ness of these desserts!  Here are three yummy and paleo desserts made with Avocados:

Can you believe it! You can make brownies with avocados!  This paleo recipe by TGIPaleo calls for avocados, honey, coconut flour, and cocoa powder.

Similarly to the brownie recipe, you can also make these fudge cupcakes from Life As A Plate!  These fudge cupcakes are made with bananas, avocado, and surprisingly, no flour!

Now, this was the first recipe that made me realize I really underestimated the abilities of avocados.  The thing I really love about this recipe is that… it is also ridiculously easy and simple!  Just blend the ingredients together, sit down, and enjoy your delicious dessert!

So next time you get tired of not having any dessert because you are being strict paleo, you can maybe try out one of these avocado recipes and have a guilt-free and delicious fun time!

2 Ingredient Pancakes!

Get this:  This pancakes recipe does not require ANY flour.  No almond flour, no coconut flour, nada.  In fact, it only requires TWO ingredients.  Two healthy ingredients!  Check out the recipe:

Prep Time: 5 minutes

Cook Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:
  • 1 banana
  • 2 eggs

That’s it!  And the instructions are super easy too!

Instructions

1.  Peel the banana and cut it in to pieces and throw it in a Mixing Bowl.  Go ahead and crack those two eggs in there too.

2.  Mix it all about! You can use a mixer like I did, so that you can get a more even consistency.  If you don’t have one laying around, just make sure you blend it well enough!

3.  Oil up your Skillet/Pan(I used Coconut Oil) and then pour the paleo pancakes mix in to the pan.  Cook like you would with normal pancakes.

4.  Eat it! I drizzled some Honey on mine.  But really, the banana pancakes are already sweet, so that is totally optional.

The important thing here though, is to realize it is obviously not going to taste exactly like pancakes you make from flour.  However, for a pancake that doesn’t have any flour, it is quite and awesome recipe find!
