Sushi Luncheon at Prime

Prime

Prime

At some point in time, someone came up with the concept of sushi and steak combination.  Now, we’re not sure who, but Prime claims that they are “known as one of the first restaurants to be a sushi and steak house concept”.  I’m not so sure about that one, but the several times I’ve been there, their food has not dissapoint!

Two delicious things I would recommend:

Prime's Cheese Bread with Garlic Butter

Prime’s Cheese Bread with Garlic Butter

This one is a freebie, but it is addictively delicious.  It’s their cheesy bread that comes with this butter that has several things mixed together so that it looks slightly green.  When I asked the waiter what all was in it, he said he wasn’t exactly sure but it was something along the lines of “parsley, cilantro, garlic”.

Prime's Sushi

Prime’s Sushi

The other is their sushi.  Though, I’ve noticed that the fish’s freshness was a little bit ‘less fresh’ than the rest of the times I’ve been there.  But all in all, I would recommend you get their Rainbow roll (which is one of my favorite sushi rolls) if you are in a sushi mood!

The First Gale of Spring: Haru Ichiban!

Dinner at Haru Ichiban

In case your’e wondering what Haru Ichiban means in Japanese, the translation is “The First Gale of Spring”.  Haru Ichibanis also the name of a Japanese restaurant in Duluth, Georgia which is slowly turning in to the local “Korea/Asia Town”.  Good thing I LOVE Korean/Asian food!  (But let’s face it, is there any food I don’t like? I’m still looking!) Anyway, here’s the delicious food we got there:

Free Appetizers of Haru Ichiban

Free Appetizers of Haru Ichiban

First thing when you take a seat, the waiter will bring each person a plate of free appetizers.   You’ll find this happen a lot at Asian restaurants.  Most Korean restaurants I’ve been to will start out with more than 5 dishes of free appetizer plates before the food you ordered even comes out!  At Haru Ichiban, we had some Edamame (right), and what I believe was seaweed, but maybe not… it tasted similar too, but all I know was that it was very tasty (and I forgot to ask what it was!)

Calamari at Haru Ichiban

Calamari at Haru Ichiban

Appetizer I ordered: Calamari.  If you usually order calamari at American restaurants, you will want to prepare yourself for this because it is a little different.  The Calamari pieces are smaller, and the entire dish has a sweet/sour marinate on it.  Not bad, just different!

Raibow Sushi at Haru Ichiban

Raibow Sushi Roll at Haru Ichiban

One of my favorite sushi rolls to order at everywhere that has sushi is the Rainbow Roll.  It’s considered a ‘western-style’ sushi roll, which usually I’m wary about (as I am not a big fan of having things like cream cheese in my sushi..) but I love Rainbow Rolls since it’s basically different types of fish, shrimp, and avocado on California rolls!

Fatty Tuna Sushi Rolls at Haru Ichiban

Another sushi roll I ordered was the Fatty Tuna Sushi Roll, which the waitress had recommended over the “Lean” Tuna Sushi Roll.  These are actually two different parts of the tuna.  The Lean Tuna is referred to as “akamai ”, while the Fatty Tuna is cut from the belly region and is refereed to as “toro”.  (Toro can be separated in to different grades of Fatty-ness, but we won’t get in to that.)  The higher the fat content the ‘richer’ it is, but I think it’s definitely up to personal preference!
