My First CocuSocial Dumpling Class in Atlanta

Published: Oct 25, 2026 by Tina Tsai · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

This weekend I taught my very first CocuSocial dumpling class in Atlanta! I've taught dumpling workshops for private groups and events before, but this was my first public CocuSocial class, so I was both excited and a little nervous going into it.

I was very excited that the class went so well! Everyone was super engaged, we made a LOT of dumplings, and everyone told me they really enjoyed both the class and the dumplings.

Learning How to Make Dumplings

For this class, we went through the whole dumpling-making process together.

I started by showing everyone how much filling to add to each wrapper and how to properly seal the dumplings. Then we practiced a few different folding techniques.

One of my favorite things about teaching dumpling classes is seeing everyone's dumplings start out a little different and then get better and better as they keep folding.

And honestly, they do not have to be perfect! As long as the dumpling is sealed well enough to keep the filling inside, you're doing great.

Pan-Frying the Dumplings

After everyone finished folding, it was time to cook!

We pan-fried the dumplings so they were golden and crispy on the bottom while staying tender on top.

This was definitely the busiest part of the class for me because everyone was cooking at the same time, so I was moving around the room checking pans, answering questions, and making sure everyone's dumplings were cooking properly.

But seeing everyone sit down with the dumplings they had just made themselves was definitely worth it!

What We Made

For this class, we used my tofu, scallion, and ginger dumpling filling. I like using a vegetarian filling for larger hands-on workshops because it makes the class easier and safer when everyone is working with the ingredients together.

I also have a chicken version you can make at home if you prefer meat:

Chicken Scallion Ginger Dumplings

Tofu Scallion Ginger Dumplings

Both can be folded and pan-fried using the same techniques we practiced during class.

And of course, we had dipping sauce and chili oil to go with them!

What My First CocuSocial Class Was Like

The biggest takeaway from my first class was honestly just how hands-on a dumpling workshop really is.

There's a lot happening at once - demonstrating, helping people fold, answering questions, checking pans, and making sure everyone feels comfortable with what they're doing.

I was really happy with how everything turned out, especially hearing everyone say how much they enjoyed the experience and the dumplings they made.

There's something really fun about making dumplings together, especially when you get to cook and eat them at the end.

What Students Are Saying
