About Sweet Octopus

Sweet Octopus is an Asian fusion restaurant located in Downtown Duluth, Georgia. While they're best known for their customizable poke bowls, the menu offers much more than just poke.

Guests can choose from a variety of poke bowls and build-your-own combinations, but you'll also find ramen, sushi burritos, sushi rolls, appetizers, boba drinks, and other Asian-inspired dishes. The wide variety of options makes it a great spot for groups, since everyone can usually find something they're in the mood for.

The restaurant has a casual atmosphere that's perfect for a quick lunch, relaxed dinner, or takeout. During our visit, we decided to focus on the poke bowls, but there were plenty of other menu items that caught our eye for future visits.

If you're looking for seafood, lighter meal options, or simply want a break from the usual lunch routine, Sweet Octopus in Duluth offers a fun and flavorful menu worth exploring.

What We Ordered at Sweet Octopus, Duluth GA

Mighty Green Bowl

I ordered the Mighty Green Bowl, which comes with fresh tuna, fresh salmon, lettuce, carrots, cucumber, cabbage, avocado, edamame, seaweed salad, pickled ginger, and ginger miso dressing.

Honestly? This bowl was amazing.

Lately I've been trying to focus on eating more nutrient-dense foods and watching my calories a little more closely before my wedding, so I loved that this bowl skips the rice entirely and uses a bed of fresh greens instead.

Sometimes healthier options can leave you feeling hungry an hour later, but that definitely wasn't the case here. Between the tuna, salmon, avocado, and edamame, it was incredibly filling while still feeling light and refreshing.

The fish tasted fresh, the vegetables were crisp, and the ginger miso dressing tied everything together perfectly. I especially loved the combination of creamy avocado, seaweed salad, and fresh seafood.

Dynamite Bowl

Chris ordered the Dynamite Bowl, which includes spicy tuna, shrimp tempura, lettuce, carrots, cucumber, cabbage, avocado, edamame, beets, eel sauce, spicy Korean sauce, jalapeño, and pickled ginger.

He really enjoyed it, but one thing worth mentioning is that it was significantly spicier than we expected.

The menu clearly includes spicy ingredients, but the sauce and jalapeños brought quite a bit of heat. If you're someone who enjoys spicy food, you'll probably love it. If you're more sensitive to spice, you may want to ask about the heat level before ordering.

The shrimp tempura added a nice crunch, and the combination of spicy tuna and sauces gave the bowl a completely different flavor profile from mine.

Fresh Ingredients and Generous Portions

One thing that stood out during our visit was how fresh everything tasted.

The vegetables were crisp, the fish was fresh, and both bowls were generously portioned. Even though my bowl didn't include rice, I had no trouble finishing lunch feeling satisfied.

The variety of textures was also really enjoyable. Between the crunchy vegetables, creamy avocado, tender fish, chewy seaweed salad, and crispy tempura shrimp in Chris's bowl, every bite offered something different.

More Than Just Poke

Although we only tried the poke bowls during this visit, Sweet Octopus offers a surprisingly large menu.

In addition to poke, they also serve ramen, sushi burritos, sushi rolls, appetizers, boba drinks, and other Asian-inspired dishes. There were several items on the menu that caught our eye, so we'll definitely be back to try more in the future.

As we return and explore more of the menu, I'll continue updating this review.

Final Thoughts

If you're looking for a fresh, flavorful lunch or dinner in Duluth, Sweet Octopus is definitely worth checking out.

My Mighty Green Bowl was exactly what I was hoping for: light, healthy, filling, and packed with fresh ingredients. Chris enjoyed his Dynamite Bowl as well, although the spice level was much higher than expected.

Whether you're craving poke, ramen, or just looking for a healthier meal option, Sweet Octopus offers plenty of choices and a casual atmosphere that makes it an easy spot to revisit.

We'll definitely be back.
