A Cookbook Review: The Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook

Published: May 15, 2014 · Modified: Feb 1, 2025 by Tina Tsai · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

It's time for another cookbook review!  This time, it is a cookbook tailored for a more specific type of Paleo diet:  The Autoimmune Paleo diet.  So if you are curious in learning more about the diet and the book, read on!

The Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook

If you're a paleo eater, you've probably also been hearing a lot about something called Autoimmune Paleo Diet (or aka AIP).  Well, what is it?  In short, the AIP diet designed to help heal the gut, especially for people with leaky gut symptoms due to autoimmune disease.  You remove certain things from your diet, and your gut lining is able to heal and symptoms of autoimmune diseases are lessened.
After a certain amount of time, you can start reintroducing foods back in to your diet, and from there you can figure out what is it that has given you digestive problems all along!

I must first say that I myself haven't tried out AIP (yet), but I do believe that AIP recipes can be delicious and healthy.  What can I say, I'm a sucker for yummy and real food!  So when Mickey Trescott from Autoimmune Paleo sent me a review copy of her cookbook "The Autoimmune Paleo Cookbook", I was ecstatic!
First things first, it's a bit harder to find much information on the Autoimmune Protocol than just your regular paleo diet, so I was very happy that this cookbook outlines everything you need to know about it:  What it is, why it works, what to eat, what to avoid, and it includes a plan on reintroducing foods in to your diet so you know what it was all along that gave you leaky gut!

You will also find a section on Meal Plans.  This really helps those of you that don't have much time to do all the planning - what's for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
Now, let's get to the exciting part - Recipes!  Mickey provides 112 recipes made up of Appetizers & Snacks, Beverages, Dressings & Sauces, Salads, Soups & Stews, Vegetables, Poultry, Seafood, Beef & Lamb, and Sweet Treats.  Awesome recipe, including Creamy Celeriac and Leek Soup, Citrus-Thyme Pot Roast, Apple-Spice Tea Cookies, Clam Chowder, and Nomato Sauce.
Are you drooling and considering getting a copy of your own?? Well, if you are... here's where to get it!

Note:
I received a copy of The Autoimmune Paleo cookbook in exchange for this review.
However, all opinions are my own!
