If you're craving dim sum in the Atlanta suburbs, Royal China in Duluth is absolutely worth a visit. Not only is the food delicious, but the restaurant itself is decorated all fancy and spacious! It's a banquet hall that also hosts weddings and large celebrations.

We usually go for dim sum, but Royal China also has a great lunch menu! Sometimes we'll add a lunch dish or two on top of our dim sum order, but you can also order just from the lunch menu itself. The lunch specials come with rice, making it a nice option if you want a more filling individual meal.

I'll talk about the space first and then go into the yummy food!

The Space

Walking into Royal China, the first thing that struck me was how beautiful and huge it is. (Totally forgot to take a picture!)

The high ceilings, ornate chandeliers, and classic Chinese banquet-hall style give it an elegant but welcoming atmosphere. It's the kind of place that feels perfect for:

  • Large family gatherings
  • Ballroom-style wedding banquets
  • Celebrations and special events
  • Big dim sum weekends

The space alone sets it apart from a lot of smaller dim sum spots in the Atlanta area.

What We Ordered (Dim Sum Favorites)

We came for dim sum, and every dish was fresh, flavorful, and served piping hot. If you're unfamiliar with dim sum, it's a traditional Cantonese meal where servers wheel carts through the dining room, each loaded with different small dishes. You can simply point to the ones you want as they pass by - super fun and perfect for trying lots of flavors.

We also ordered from the lunch menu this time, which is another great option at Royal China. Their lunch dishes come with rice, so you can easily make a full meal out of that alone, or add one to your dim sum spread like we did.

Here's what we ordered:

Har Gow 蝦餃 / Crystal Shrimp Dumplings

A classic dim sum favorite! These translucent shrimp dumplings are filled with juicy shrimp and wrapped in that tender, slightly chewy crystal dumpling skin.

Xiao Long Bao 小籠包 (Soup Dumplings)

Juicy, savory, and beautifully wrapped.

Char Siu Bao 叉燒包 (BBQ Pork Buns)

Soft, fluffy buns filled with sweet-salty roasted pork.

Steamed Pork Spare Ribs 豉汁蒸排骨

Classic dim sum comfort food.

Tofu Skin Rolls with Pork 腐皮卷

Tender pork wrapped in silky tofu skin - so good!

Siu Mai / Shumai 燒賣

Plump, meaty pork and shrimp dumplings. Always a must-order - one of my faves!

Daikon Radish / Turnip Cake 蘿蔔糕

Pan-fried until golden on the outside and soft inside. This is one of those classic dim sum dishes that's simple but so comforting. (I already started eating before I took the pictures so there is a part missing lol)

Shrimp Rice Noodle Rolls 蝦腸粉 (Cheung Fun)

Tender rice noodles wrapped around shrimp, topped with a light savory sauce. My childhood favorite!

Crispy Fried Lobster Ball

Crispy on the outside and savory inside - a fun fried dim sum option if you want something a little different from the usual steamed dishes. It also came with a sweet chili sauce to dip in (not pictured).

Egg Tarts 蛋撻

Flaky pastry + creamy custard. These were AMAZING-perfect texture and flavor.

Dry-Fried Green Beans 乾煸四季豆

We also ordered green beans from the lunch menu. This dish is savory, flavorful, and great with rice. I love that you can order it as part of the lunch menu if you want a more complete meal, or add it alongside dim sum for some extra vegetables.

More Than Just Dim Sum

While dim sum is the main attraction, Royal China also has a large Cantonese-style menu and a great lunch menu.

We usually go for dim sum, but sometimes we'll add a lunch dish to the table too - especially if we want something with rice or a vegetable dish to balance everything out. This time, I ordered the dry-fried green beans 乾煸四季豆 from the lunch menu, and it was a tasty addition to all the dim sum.

You can also skip dim sum entirely and just order from the lunch menu if you want a more traditional lunch plate. The lunch dishes come with rice, so it's a great option for a simple, filling meal.

Royal China also has Cantonese-style dishes like:

  • Beef Chow Fun 乾炒牛河
  • Crispy Salt & Pepper Squid 椒鹽魷魚
  • Peking Duck 北京烤鴨
  • BBQ Pork Fried Rice 叉燒炒飯
  • Lo Mein 撈麵
  • Steamed Whole Fish 清蒸魚
  • Roasted Meats 燒味拼盤

Whether you're coming for dim sum, lunch, family dinner, or a banquet-style celebration, the menu covers everything from casual dishes to showstopper entrées.

Thinking About Hosting an Event Here?

Royal China is also known for hosting:

  • Wedding banquets
  • Birthday celebrations
  • Large family gatherings
  • Cultural events

There isn't a ton of updated info online about pricing or banquet packages, so the best thing to do is:

  • Visit in person (while enjoying dim sum!)
  • Ask staff about their current event menus & pricing

They can show you set menu options and help plan based on guest count and event style.

If you can't make it in person then give them a call at (770) 216-9933.
