This isn't a "trendy small plates" kind of restaurant. It's more like: big, satisfying dishes, tons of banchan, and the kind of menu where you can keep coming back and still have more to try.

What Jang Su Jang is known for

Jang Su Jang is a great pick if you want:

  • Authentic Korean flavors (savory, garlicky, spicy options, and lots of balance)
  • Comfort dishes you'll want with rice
  • A full table experience thanks to the banchan spread
  • Options for both spice-lovers and people who want something milder

What we order at Jang Su Jang

Here are some tasty things we ordered!

Downtown Alpharetta has some delicious Korean food! 🥢 We checked out Jang Su Jang and tried it all - thick & crispy seafood pancake, spicy tteokbokki, lettuce wraps, bulgogi, and more. And yes… their galbi even won Best Entrée at Taste of Alpharetta! 🙌 👉 Read about what I ate on the blog - link in bio! #atlantaeats #KoreanFood #AlpharettaEats #AtlantaFoodies #AsianFood

1) Tteokbokki (spicy rice cakes) with glass noodles

Tteokbokki - Jang Su Jang, Alpharetta GA

This dish looks intimidatingly red, but it's more red than unbearably spicy (unless you're super sensitive).

The version we had was loaded with:

  • Tteok (rice cakes)
  • Glass noodles (sweet potato noodles)
  • Extras like fish cake, and depending on what you order, sometimes dumplings

The sauce is sweet + tangy + spicy, and the glass noodles are the best part - chewy, springy, and coated in that bold sauce.

Photo tip: a close-up "noodle pull" shot here would be perfect.

2) Seafood pancake

If you like crispy edges and seafood flavor, get this. The one we tried had a super satisfying crunch and was packed with seafood like squid and shrimp, plus chives/green onion.

It comes with dipping sauce and is one of the best "shareable" items on the table - especially if you're with a group.

Photo tip: show the crispy cross-section + the dipping sauce.

3) Lettuce wraps (ssam-style) - chicken, beef bulgogi, or spicy pork

Lettuce wraps - Jang Su Jang, Alpharetta GA

These were so fun because each bite has everything: crisp lettuce, savory meat, sauce, and toppings.

We tried multiple proteins, and the beef bulgogi wrap was a standout - especially because it included a thin slice of daikon radish, which adds a tangy crunch that balances the richness.

There's often a sliced jalapeño on top, so just note that if you don't want heat.

Photo tip: a "hands holding wrap" shot works really well here.

4) Spicy pork bulgogi

This is the one where the heat can sneak up on you.

It starts off feeling manageable… then you feel the spicy kick in the back of your throat after a few bites. If you like Korean spicy dishes, you'll probably love it. If you don't, go for the charcoal pork instead.

5) Charcoal pork

This one surprised me - it looks simple, but it's crazy flavorful. It's one of those dishes that makes you keep going back for "just one more bite," especially with rice and banchan.

If you want something deeply seasoned but not spicy, this is a great choice.

6) Chicken teriyaki (a safe, solid option)

If someone in your group is nervous about ordering off a Korean menu, the chicken teriyaki is a good "comfort pick." It's not overly sweet, more savory-balanced, and very approachable.

The banchan (side dishes) deserve their own moment

banchan - jang su jang alpharetta ga

One of my favorite parts of eating at Korean restaurants is the banchan - and Jang Su Jang brings out a full spread that instantly makes the table feel like a feast.

Depending on the day, you might see things like:

  • Kimchi
  • Pickled cucumbers
  • Japchae (sweet potato glass noodles)
  • Seaweed salad
  • Other rotating veggie sides

Even if you order something simple, the banchan adds variety and makes the meal feel special.

Photo tip: do one wide "full banchan spread" pic + one close-up of your fave.

My quick ordering guide

If you want…

  • Chewy + saucy: tteokbokki
  • Crispy shareable: seafood pancake
  • Fun "one bite" dish: lettuce wraps
  • Spicy entrée: spicy pork bulgogi
  • Non-spicy but super flavorful: charcoal pork

Final thoughts

If you're looking for a Korean restaurant where you can order a few things, share everything, and leave full and happy, Jang Su Jang is a great choice. The flavors are bold, the banchan makes it feel like a feast, and there are plenty of options whether you love spice or prefer something milder.
