Best Oyster Ramen in Taipei - Niya Oyster Ramen 二屋牡蠣拉麵

Published: Oct 2, 2025 by Tina Tsai · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

If you love ramen and you love oysters, this spot in Taipei is going to blow your mind. 二屋牡蠣拉麵 (Niya Oyster Ramen) specializes in bowls of ramen topped with giant, plump oysters - and when I say giant, I mean some of the biggest I've ever had in a ramen bowl.

This tiny, streamlined shop runs with an open kitchen and just seats at the counter. The setup is simple, but the flavors are anything but! Honestly, this is probably the best bowl of ramen I've ever had.

The restaurant's Chinese name is 二屋牡蠣拉麵, which literally means "House No. 2 Oyster Ramen." In Japanese, 二屋 can be read as Niya (にや) and since this ramen shop leans into Japanese style, many people refer to it as Niya Oyster Ramen. That's why you'll see me use both names here and there.

The Experience

Like a lot of great ramen spots in Japan and Taiwan, you start at the self-service kiosk to place your order (English menu available if you need it). After that, you take your ticket and wait for a seat at the counter.

The restaurant is small, so expect to line up outside (I know, in the Taiwan humidity...) but trust me, it's worth the wait!!!

The counter setup means you can watch the chefs prepare your bowl right in front of you. The vibe is efficient, no frills, and totally focused on the food.

The Menu

The star here is, of course, the oyster ramen (牡蠣拉麵). There are a few variations - their rich oyster ramen, a lighter oyster soup ramen, and even a premium version with extra-fresh oysters.

If oysters aren't your thing (like my sister!), they also serve a chicken & pork bone ramen as an alternative.

Beyond ramen, the menu is streamlined with just a few sides - soft-boiled eggs, char siu pork, marinated oysters, or a small rice bowl - plus beer and rice. It's simple, focused, and keeps the spotlight firmly on the ramen.

One fun extra: the shop offers unlimited noodle refills. Once you've got your bowl, you can keep topping it up as much as you'd like.

The Ramen

The highlight here is, of course, the oysters. They were unbelievably fresh and plump - basically a seafood lover's dream!

But the oysters weren't the only standout - the pork slices were incredible too. Thinly sliced, tender, and savory, they added a richness that balanced perfectly with the seafood and broth.

The broth in my bowl was rich, delicious, and full of umami - it paired beautifully with the oysters and noodles.

And one of the coolest parts? They have these containers of some light broth on the counters. So you can top up your bowl as you go. It kept my noodles and toppings swimming in hot soup the whole time, and made the experience feel extra generous.

Things to Know

  • Limited seating - Only counter seats are available.
  • Order at the kiosk - No table service; get your ticket before sitting.
  • Expect a line - This place is popular! We waited, but it moved steadily.
  • Worth the wait - The oysters, broth, and noodles come together in a bowl you won't forget.

Here's a video of my experience there with my sister and nephew!

Throwback to 2 years ago in Taipei with my sister and nephew! They brought me to 二屋牡蠣拉麵 (Niya Oyster Ramen) and I had the BEST ramen ever 🍜 This spot is famous for its oyster ramen bowls - MASSIVE fresh oysters, rich broth, and tender pork. Totally worth waiting in the Taiwan humidity for a seat in their tiny counter-only shop! I actually wrote about it on my blog too - link in bio!!! #RamenLovers #TaiwanEats #OysterRamen #FoodieTravel #taipeifood

Final Thoughts

I've had a lot of ramen over the years, but this one was unforgettable. The combination of massive oysters, rich yet balanced broth, and the intimate counter-style setting made it a truly special meal.

If you're in Taipei and want to try something unique, 二屋牡蠣拉麵 Niya Oyster House should be at the top of your list!
