If you love Greek food, you don't need to hop on a plane to Santorini - you can find that vacation-worthy flavor right here in Johns Creek. I was recently featured on Georgia Foodies at Santorini Greek Restaurant, and let me tell you… the food was incredible.

I actually visited Greece back in 2017, and this meal instantly brought back memories of that trip - the flavors, the warmth, and that cozy, comforting feeling you get from really good Greek cooking. It made me miss being there and definitely has me wanting to plan another visit.

Here's a quick tiktok video I made if you prefer to watch it:

Come with me to Santorini Greek Restaurant in John's Creek 🇬🇷✨ We tried so many dishes, and they were all so good but my favorites were the lamb shank 🍖 and the stuffed eggplants 🍆 I can't wait to go back! #greekrestaurant #greekfood #mediterraneanfood #atlantaeats #johnscreekga

A quick note about the chef

Santorini Greek Restaurant is led by Chef Odis, who's been cooking Greek food for decades. He's worked in Florida and Atlanta, and the menu has a little bit of everything depending on what you're craving - fresh seafood, hearty meats, and classic Greek comfort food. Think whole snapper, octopus, lamb chops, and lamb shank.

What I ate at Santorini Greek Restaurant

Baba ganoush + tzatziki to start

I kicked things off with baba ganoush and tzatziki, served with pita. I also got a simple and tasty tomato-cucumber salad. Such a refreshing, classic start - creamy, bright, and perfect for getting your appetite going.

Lamb shank (the star of the show)

Then came the lamb shank - a massive, fall-off-the-bone piece of meat simmered in a rich tomato-pepper sauce. The flavor was amazing: deeply savory, super tender, and with just a hint of sweetness that kept me going back for more.

It came with Greek potatoes, carrots, and green beans, all cooked beautifully. The potatoes were especially memorable - that classic lemony tang that balances the richness of the lamb so well.

Lamb chops

Next up: lamb chops, seasoned with fresh herbs and paired with rice. They were perfectly cooked and one of the most flavorful bites of the night.

Spanakopita

We also tried spanakopita, and it was everything you want: golden, flaky layers with a creamy spinach-and-cheese filling. I remember having spanakopita in Greece - and honestly, this was even better than I remembered.

Grilled octopus

As a seafood lover, I was especially excited about the grilled octopus. It had that great balance of tangy, meaty, and slightly smoky flavor, with a satisfying bite.

Stuffed dishes (I couldn't pick a favorite)

After that, we went all-in on the stuffed dishes: stuffed cabbage (with lamb and beef in a lemony sauce), stuffed peppers, stuffed tomatoes, and stuffed eggplant with a rice-and-meat filling.

Everything was hearty, flavorful, and comforting. I genuinely could not pick a favorite - but if I had to choose, it was a tie between the stuffed tomatoes and stuffed eggplant, because I love that rich tomato flavor.

Baklava to finish

And of course: baklava. Flaky layers, warm spices, and lots of honey - and the chef proudly makes the honey himself. It was sweet without being overly sugary, and the perfect way to end a meal like this.

The ambiance (so cute inside - and there's a patio)

Beyond the food, Santorini Greek Restaurant is just a really cute spot. Outside, there's a patio that would be perfect when the weather's nice.

Inside, the décor feels bright and Mediterranean - lots of blue-and-white accents, twinkle lights, and fun little nods to Greek culture (including the evil eye / mati symbol you'll often see as a traditional sign of protection). It's warm, welcoming, and the kind of place that works just as well for date night as it does for catching up with friends.

The experience (and filming with Georgia Foodies)

Filming with Georgia Foodies was so much fun - but honestly, I'd come back even without the cameras rolling. The meal felt like a mix of homestyle comfort and celebratory feast, and everything we tried was packed with flavor.
