If you've ever had Japanese curry, you know⦠it's one of those comfort foods that just hits. Thick, savory, slightly sweet, and usually paired with crispy tonkatsu over rice - it's simple, but so satisfying.

My fiancΓ© actually got introduced to Japanese curry while we were in Taiwan (it's super popular there too!), and ever since then, he's been craving it. So when we got back to Georgia, we went straight to Kisoya in Suwanee to satisfy that craving.
And honestly⦠it did not disappoint.
What is Kisoya?
Kisoya is a casual Japanese restaurant in Suwanee that specializes in:
- Udon noodle soups
- Tonkatsu (breaded pork cutlet)
- Japanese curry rice
- Donburi and set meals
It's the kind of place where you can get a full tray with multiple components - super comforting, filling, and perfect for when you want a complete meal.
What We Ordered
Here's what we ordered but they have a lot more tasty foods on the menu!
Tonkatsu Curry Rice

This is what my fiancΓ© came for and exactly what he was craving.
Crispy, golden-breaded pork cutlet sliced over rice, covered in that rich Japanese curry sauce.
- The curry was thick, smooth, and deeply savory
- Slightly sweet (classic Japanese curry flavor)
- The tonkatsu stayed crispy even with the sauce
If you've had Japanese curry in Taiwan or Japan, this totally hits that same comfort-food vibe.
It also came with a udon soup so that was a nice touch.
Tobikodon Tonkatsu Set
This is what I ordered and I love a good set meal because you get a little bit of everything.

My set included:
- Crispy tonkatsu
- Rice
- Udon soup
- Pickles
- Sauce for dipping
- Bibimbap
The tonkatsu was super crunchy on the outside and juicy inside - exactly what you want.

The udon soup was light and comforting, with that classic dashi-based broth that balances out the fried cutlet really well.

And honestly, I always love having pickles on the side - it helps cut through the richness.
Hot Stone Bibimbap (Included in the Set!)
My set also came with a hot stone bibimbap - which was a nice surprise.

It didn't come with an egg like traditional bibimbap, but it still had:
- Rice
- Kimchi
- Cucumber
- Seaweed
- Crab stick
And since it's served in a hot stone bowl, the rice at the bottom gets crispy if you let it sit a bit (which is the best part!).
Just a warning though - it is HOT.
Like⦠actually hot.
I definitely burned myself multiple times because I am super clumsy π (100% my fault).
Final Thoughts
Kisoya is one of those spots that just hits when you're craving comfort food.
Between the crispy tonkatsu, rich Japanese curry, and full set meals (with all the little sides), it's the kind of place where you leave full and happy. It also totally satisfied that Japanese curry craving we brought back with us from Taiwan - which says a lot.
Overall, super solid spot in the Suwanee / Duluth area - and definitely one we'll be coming back to whenever that curry craving hits again.
