If you haven’t figured this one out, I LOVE SPICY. Like many spicy food lovers, I’m a fan of delicious pickled jalapenos. It goes so well with everything! So, of course I had to make some myself. This Easy Homemade pickled jalapenos recipe are incredibly easy to make and they are even more delicious than pickled jalapenos I’ve had elsewhere!
Are pickled jalapenos hot?
Some foods change tastes when they are pickled, jalapenos do too but not their spicyness so pickled jalapenos are hot – but it’s more of a tangy hot so it’s not just spicy – making it super tasty to add to other things such as sandwiches!
How long do pickled jalapenos last?
Pickled jalapeños will keep for up to about six months when stored in a tightly sealed container in the fridge. If you’re nearing six months and it starts tasting different though, you may want to throw it out, as it’s always hard to say depending on the exact amount of ingredients used.
Why are my pickled jalapenos mushy?
I’ve gotten this question a couple of times so I just wanted to address it in case this happens to you. If you find your pickled jalapenos to come out mushy, then it probably means you boiled it too long. You will want to bring to a boil and then remove from heat.
Ingredients
- 15-20 Jalapeño Peppers depending on their size
- 1 cup Distilled White Vinegar
- 1 cup of Water
- 2 tablespoons Kosher Salt
- 1 tbsp of Minced Garlic (or a clove of Fresh Garlic will do too)
- 2 tbsp Black Peppercorn
Instructions
Slice jalapeños. I also recommend gloves if you are a contacts wearer and often times can’t fully wash all the jalapeno out of your hands before sticking your fingers in your eyes…
In a pot, add water, vinegar, minced garlic, black peppercorn, and salt.
Bring to a boil, and then remove from heat.
Immediately add sliced jalapeños to the pot and let it sit for 15 minutes. The jalapeños will change colors at this point.
Remove jalapeños from pot and transfer in to jar.
Add the water/vinegar/garlic/salt/peppercorn mix in to jar until jar is full.
Lid it up and pop it in to the fridge.

My family LOVES these pickled jalapenos!! Awesome flavor that goes well with tacos, pho, burgers, hot dogs, etc. Great for keeping jalapenos a little longer than fresh ones, although every time I make them they only last a day or two in the fridge. Thanks so much for this recipe, it's a winner!

My house smells like "Spicy" Heaven!! I used assorted peppers for mine (Japapenos,Serrano, and Hot Garden Salsa Peppers) and I didn't have just black peppercorns, so I used Melange (color blend)!! Can't wait to dig in!! Thanks for sharing this simple and satisfying recipe!!

Farmers Market near our house had big bags of jalapenos for $1... this recipe literally takes no more than 20 minutes. I modified slightly by popping in cloves from a whole head of garlic. These are fantastic and get even better after a day or two!

Nice! Yes you can totally use fresh garlic instead! I should add that in there, thanks for reminding me and I'm glad you liked it!
