Labor day is here and it’s the unofficial end of grilling season. These Lime and Basil Beef Kebabs are simple to throw together, and you can double or triple the ingredients easily to serve a big crowd. The lime and basil complete each other so well.
I used thai basil, which you can usually find at any Asian market, but regular basil works fine. The flavor is fresh and bright. Perfect for the end of summer. You can cut up the meat and let it marinade for 24 hours, so the day of grilling you’re just assembling skewers.
Ingredients
- 1 lb sirloin steak
- 1 cup loosely packed basil
- 3 cloves garlic
- 2 limes
- 1 teaspoon coriander
- 1/3 cup + 1 tbsp avocado oil
- 3/4 tsp salt
- 2 bell peppers
- 1 red onion
Directions
Cut your bell peppers and onion into 1” pieces. Place in a medium sized bowl.

Pour 1 tablespoon of avocado oil over the vegetables and ¼ teaspoon of salt. Mix together and let it sit until it’s time to put the kebabs together.

Cut the sirloin into 1” pieces and put into a bowl or dish with sides.
Use a food processor or immersion blender to blend up the basil, garlic cloves, juice of the 2 limes, coriander, and salt. Pour the mixture over the steak and let it marinade.

If using wooden skewers, place them in a shallow baking dish and cover with water. Let them soak for 30 minutes.
After 30 minutes start putting your vegetables and meat on the skewers. Turn your grill on to medium-high heat.

Grill the skewers for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through. You can grill longer if you prefer them more done.

Eat them immediately for the best flavor!

Pin for later!
