About Baby Carrots
Ever wondered how baby carrots are made?
They're actually cut down from larger carrots! Big carrots are shaped into smaller pieces, then peeled and rounded in machines - which is why they look smooth and uniform.
Customize it!
The spice blend in this recipe is just one way to dress up carrots! Feel free to give your favorite spices a try. If you're looking for ideas - you can try making a 'sweet' version instead of my 'savory' version by using brown sugar (or coconut sugar if paleo), and cinnamon!
How to air fry baby carrots (Step by Step)
- 1 lb of baby carrots
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Β½ teaspoon garlic powder
- Β½ teaspoon dried oregano
- Β½ teaspoon dried basil
- Β½ teaspoon dried parsley
- Salt and pepper, as desired
Preheat air fryer to 350 degrees F.
If your baby carrots have different thickness (some are thick and some are skinny), slice the thicker ones in half length wise.

In a mixing bowl, add baby carrots, olive oil, all the spices, salt and pepper. Combine well. Transfer to air fryer basket.

Air fry 350 for 8 minutes.

Remove and shake air fryer basket.
Air fry for another 8 minutes and remove from heat. Serve!

Storage & Reheating
Storage:
- Let the carrots cool completely before storing.
- Place in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 4 days.
- For longer storage, you can freeze them for up to 2 months, but note that the texture will be softer after thawing.
Reheating:
- Air Fryer: Preheat to 350Β°F, heat carrots for 3-4 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
- Oven: Bake at 350Β°F for 5-7 minutes until warmed through.
- Microwave: Heat on high for 30-45 seconds, but note they'll be softer compared to air frying.

FAQ
Can I use regular carrots instead of baby carrots?
Yes! Just peel and cut them into similar-sized sticks or chunks so they cook evenly.
Do I need to boil the carrots before air frying?
Nope! Baby carrots cook perfectly in the air fryer without pre-boiling.
Can I make these without oil?
Yes, but the texture will be slightly different. If oil-free, use a light mist of water or cooking spray to help the seasoning stick.
How do I make them sweeter instead of savory?
Swap the savory spices for a mix of brown sugar (or coconut sugar) and cinnamon for a sweet twist.
Why do some carrots cook faster than others?
Carrots vary in thickness, so cutting thicker ones in half lengthwise ensures even cooking.
