Where to buy King Oyster Mushrooms?

You can buy king oyster mushrooms in your local Asian super market. Often times you can also find it in organic or natural grocery stores such as Whole Foods.

What do King Oyster Mushrooms taste like?
Taste wise, the king oyster mushroom is earthy, woodsy, and savory. Some will say it is of the 'umami' taste.
The most notable thing to me is not the taste however, but that this thick fleshed mushroom is very firm when cooked, almost chewy in a way - which makes it a very uniquely tasting mushroom!
Are King Oyster Mushrooms good for you?
The short answer is yes! Like other mushrooms, King oyster mushrooms are a great source of fiber. It is also a good source of riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, phosphorus, potassium, copper, thiamin, vitamin B6, folate, iron, magnesium, and zinc.
Oyster mushrooms are great for heart health, blood sugar regulation, and also supports your immune system.
About Thai Basil
For this recipe I use Thai Basil. This type of basil is often used in Southeast Asia. While it is very popular in Thai cuisine, it is also often used in other Asian cuisines - such as Vietnamese, Chinese, and more.
Thai basil is very flavorful - savory, peppery and anise like. It has a stronger taste compared to regular sweet basil (aka Italian basil).
If you can't find any Thai basil, you can use regular sweet basil or holy basil, but just know it'll have a slightly different flavor.
